Waterjet cutting

Water jet cutting on all types of materials, such as very hard countertops or the neat cutting of ceramic tiles. We carry out your precision cutting thanks to our high-tech cutting machines, equipped with 5 axes of useful cutting dimension: 4 x 2 meters.

Industrial machining process

Water jet cutting is an industrial machining process, which uses the projection of water under very high pressure (4000 bars), loaded or not in abrasive depending on the materials to be machined (metal, sheet, aluminum). It offers the possibility to cut practically all materials supporting water, regardless of their thickness, except tempered glass.

Cutting of all hard materials | Marbrerie Toulouse

Barthe specializes in water jet cutting of hard and soft materials, metals, sheet metal, stone or even glass. We work in particular for industrial and craft subcontracting, but also for artistic, technological and industrial projects requiring extreme precision in cutting work.

Benefits

Cutting with an aqueous liquid jet is a cold cutting process that therefore does not alter the molecular structure of the cut material. This cutting technology ensures the mechanical properties of each material, without heat treatment and without deformation.

It offers very high cutting precision: cutting tolerance up to 0.2 mm, surface quality of the fields up to Ra 1.6 μ.

The extreme precision, thanks to its orientable head, compensates for a minimum draft.

The different aqueous jet cutting processes

Abrasive water cutting is used for hard materials such as steel, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, Dekton, ceramics, granite, stone, glass, metal, sheet...

Pure water cutting is used on thin soft materials such as composite, rubber, foam, plastic, leather...

Examples of materials cut by water jet (with or without the addition of abrasives)

  • Hard materials: Steel – Stainless Steel – Titanium – Inconel – Stainless Steel etc.
  • Non-ferrous materials: Aluminum – Brass – Bronze – Copper – Nickel alloy etc.
  • Plastics and Polymers: Teflon – POM – PE – PEEK – Bakelite – Polyamide – Polyacetal - Polycarbonate etc.
  • Minerals: Dekton - Ceramic Plates – Ceramic Tiles - Granite – Marble – Stone – Resin - Glass - Mirror – Magna – etc.
  • Plants: Wood – Medium - Cross Wood – Root – Exotic Wood – etc
  • New materials: Carbonne – Composite – Composite Materials – Fiberglass – Carbonne Fiber – Multi-material – Sandwich and complex materials - etc.
  • Soft materials: Rubber – Foam – Silicone – Elastomers- Leather – Carpet etc.

Technical details of cutting tools for all materials

  • Usable dimension of the cutting table: 4 x 2 meters
  • 5-axis cutting machine with tilting head from 0° up to 55°
  • Max thickness: 200 mm
  • Variable pressure up to 4000 bar
  • Pure water jet size: 0.25 mm
  • Size of the water jet + abrasive: 0.76 to 1.02 mm

Machines for ultra-precise and high precision cutting

Our latest generation 5-axis machine complements our two digital 5-axis and 4-axis machines in the precision and finishing work that only water jet cutting can provide. They will work in pairs on orders requiring machining work such as polishing, grooving, unhooking and a finer and more precise cut that only the water jet can perform.

Barthe also offers you the purchase or rental of ready-to-install gabions.

About

Our know-how Since 1772, nine generations of brickmakers established in the Toulouse region have succeeded each other from father to son, passing on craftsmanship. It is the quality of our products that makes us renowned today and our trust in terracotta. From our factory in Gratens, built in 1908, we continue to manufacture our products in terracotta and raw, right next to our clay quarries virgin of all pollution. Hoffmann furnace: the symbol of our know-how The Hoffmann furnace is a true emblem of the Barthe marble industry. A real living museum, unique for its records: 160 m long, uninterrupted baking for several years, charcoal cooking for 130 hours, maximum temperature of 1100° maintained for 10 hours, tiles that remain in the oven for 21 days... The unparalleled rendering of this traditional firing has earned us a total recognition and trust that makes architectural projects of great renown entrusted to us. The marbrerie Barthe in the world The Terres cuites Barthe are found all over the world: Grand Hotels (Grand Hyatt, the largest golf of France in Tourettes and lately the Hotel Aitza du Cap Ferret), Museums, Abbeys, Heritage sites, French Institutions, with the collaboration of renowned architects such as Philippe Stark (high brions classified grand crus).

Our business areas

This thirst for entrepreneurship and to always improve has guided us towards other activities that strengthen our status as a manufacturer.

Import of natural materials

In just a few years, we have become one of the most important importers of natural materials from all over the world, particularly in the travertine trade (more than a hundred containers per year) transported directly from Turkey to our depot in Gratens. We also import large quantities of slate from Brazil in the form of tiles or slabs intended for kitchen and bathroom plans, pool coping...

Gabions for purchase or rental

To this is added the manufacture of gabions, pre-filled by compaction vibro of Garonne pebbles, gray or beige limestone for private and public construction sites.

An ultra-modern machining center and a machine for cutting large slabs of granite, marble, ceramic and many other materials have allowed us to enter a very innovative and demanding professional environment. We have expanded our range of products including wall tops, pool coping, window sills, custom staircase steps.

Cutting natural materials with a water jet

And to complete our marble work, we also offer water jet cutting of all types of materials, such as very hard worktops or the neat cutting of ceramic tiles.
